Biography
James Marion Johnson was born on 30 December 1855 in Davidson, Tennessee, United States, the son of James H and Cintha Johnson.[1]
In the 1860 census James was four years old. His family had moved to Giles county, Tennessee, United States, and his father was working as a day laborer.[2]
In 1870, they were living in Maury county, Tennessee, where his father had a farm. [3]
James and Ellen Ella Gilliland were married on 19 September 1875 in Boone, Arkansas, United States.[4] Ellen was born on 20 April 1859 in Jackson County, Alabama, United States. Their children were:
- Melvin Johnson (1883–>1900)
- James Claude Johnson (1886–1971)
- Hugh Frank Johnson (1887–1964)
They had moved to Idaho in about 1887. Their son Hugh was born in Boise, Ada, Idaho. Ellen died in 1890, probably in Boise.[5]
After Ellen died, James and the boys moved back to Arkansas. He and Celia Elvira Brown were married on 17 May 1891 in Boone, Arkansas.[6][7] Celia was born on 3 August 1859 in Fannin, Georgia, United States. Their children were:
- Alta Maude Johnson (1893–1955)
- Iza Moore Johnson (1897–1964)
- Earl Daniel Johnson (~1898–1958)
- Earnest Lloyd Johnson (1901–1974)
In 1900, James was living in the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory where they had a farm. [8]
By 1910, the family had moved to the White Cross Election Precinct, Ada County, Idaho.[9]
In 1920, James and Celia had a farm in Pleasant Valley, Clark County, Idaho. Their daughter Iza was living with them.[10]
In 1930, James and Celia were living in their daughter Alta's household in Boise. [11]
James died on 13 September 1939 in Meridian, Ada, aged 83. He was buried in Kuna Cemetery, Kuna, Ada County, Idaho.[1] [12]
